Success at Sydney East Athletics Championships

Key Points

  • Congratulations to our athletics team who competed earlier this term at the Sydney East Regional Athletics Carnival. Our athletes gave their personal best on both days and represented our school with outstanding sportsmanship.
  • We are extremely proud of the impressive performances of most of our team who achieved high placings for their events.

Congratulations to the 18 Gymea students who competed in the Sydney East Regional Athletics Championships on Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd August at Sylvania Athletics Track. 

The  weather  was  perfect  and  the  competition  fierce, with all students representing our school with great pride, vigour and exemplary sportsmanship. Our team, comprising of both  individual and relay competitors, demonstrated impressive performances, with most of our athletes achieving placings within the top 10 for their events. The 2022 Sydney East Regional Athletics Carnival has proven to be a highly successful event for our talented athletes. 

A special mention must be made to some individual achievements:  Jaiden B of year 10 placed third in the 16 boys high jump, Mia G of year 9, placed fourth overall in the 14 Girls 100m dash and Alex M of year 9 placed fourth in the 15 Boys Javelin.

Special congratulations to Kiana N of Year 10 who has qualified for State in Discus after finishing second with a throw of 31.11m. Kiana also placed third in Javelin and fifth in Shot Put. Good luck at the State Championships next month Kiana!

We are so proud of the outstanding achievements of our talented Gymea athletes at this elite level.  Well done!
