Each year, the Vocational Education and Training awards are held in September to recognise those students who have achieved outstanding performance in a VET course. We have been fortunate enough over the last few years to see a number of our students nominated for and receiving these awards.

The Youth Partnership VET Excellence award recognises a student who has not only excelled in the classroom but has also demonstrated an outstanding level of skill and achievement in their work placement environment.

Lucas Wang was nominated due to his outstanding level of achievement and commitment to his learning within his VET course, Hospitality Kitchen Operations, in addition to him having outstanding success at his work placement with ‘Ugly Pizza’, where he was offered employment. Lucas was recognised for his continual efforts to succeed and also for the continued support he provides to his peers in the classroom.

Students nominated for the NSW VET Excellence award are selected for their commitment to their Vocational Education Training coursework, their achievements and their aspirations within the industry. NSW Public Schools recognises students who have excelled in their respective VET course and demonstrate commitment to industry through this award.

Laura Cox was a finalist in the NSW VET Excellence awards for 2022 in Hospitality Kitchen Operations. Laura has continually demonstrated an extremely high level of dedication to her VET course, with outstanding skills and knowledge in this field. She received outstanding praise from her Work Placement supervisors and was offered employment. In addition, Laura has sought employment in the industry and hopes to continue to develop her skills and passion in this area by one day running her own Cafe. Laura has contributed to the positive culture of learning at Gymea Technology High School, supporting her fellow peers to have success. She demonstrates a high level of commitment to her studies and has been a wonderful ambassador for VET at our school.

Congratulations to both Lucas and Laura on this well-deserved achievement.
